November Dual Spotlight
Building empathy and resilience into education
This November, we are showcasing two innovative labs that transform how HEIs are incorporating soft skills into innovative education.
Dr. Natalie Walsh shares how the University of Galway is leading human-centred innovate solutions through its pioneering Empathy Studio, part of IdeasLab. By embedding empathy into entrepreneurial curricula, the studio demonstrates how universities can lead in socially responsible innovation, equipping learners for the future of work.
Marita Coppes and Maike Verhagen explore the importance of resilience as a cornerstone of student success. At Windesheim University’s Global Project and Change Management (GPCM) program, the innovative Resiliency Labs are redefining how soft skills are nurtured in higher education through diverse, experiential workshops. These labs prepare change makers to lead in a world that demands adaptability, empathy, and action.
Entrepreneurship, digitalisation and sustainability
At ACEEU, we focus on key areas to transform education. Explore how our innovative projects—AI Leaders, ANGIE, Nudging 360, and Start-DSP—are shaping a future of ethical AI, green innovation, and empowered educators across Europe.
ANGIE, the Academic Network for a Green and Innovative Europe, is inviting academics who support Europe's green transition through innovation! Join the ANGIE community of universities, research institutes, and experts dedicated to proposing viable solutions, here: https://angie-project.eu/.
Nudging 360 uses nudging and self-nudging to boost digital skills as well as the digital readiness and capacity of the educators and university administrative staff. Check here to learn how to use nudges to transform higher education! https://nudging360.eu/
Start-DSP transforms entrepreneurial education with a toolkit for intrapreneurial challenges, a curriculum for digital, green and entrepreneurial competences, and an Assessment Tool on business models for feedback on strengths and areas of improvement. Together, these tools will provide a roadmap to drive digitalization, sustainability, and profitability. Check out the last newsletter for updates! https://start-dsp.eu/start-dsp-newsletter-2/
November was a month of impact and innovation for ACEEU, advancing higher education through AI, entrepreneurship and collaborations.
AI for Quality Assurance: At the 2024 European Quality Assurance Forum (University of Twente, NL), Thorsten Kliewe led a workshop on “AI Tools for Efficient and Effective Accreditation Processes”. With 38 participants from universities and quality assurance agencies, the session utilised ACEEU’s innovative canvas and cards to explore how AI can enhance workflows, addressing key challenges with practical solutions.
Driving Entrepreneurial Universities: At FORTEC (Brazil), Thorsten Kliewe joined Jorge Audy (Pontifical University of Rio Grande do Sul) and Marta Tostes (Pontifical Catholic University of Peru) in a panel discussion on “Entrepreneurial and Sustainable Science and Technology Institutions” with over 300 participants. At Unicamp, he facilitated a workshop integrating entrepreneurship into curricula, with 12 educators from diverse fields exploring ACEEU’s innovative canvas and cards to enrich teaching and empower students with entrepreneurial skills.
Networking for Impact: Lina Landinez and Federica Casaccio represented ACEEU at the ConValores Networking Event and EFEN Network, strengthening partnerships and discussing project ideas and other initiatives in entrepreneurship, sustainability, and digitalization in higher education for 2025.
