Celebrating 5 Years of ACEEU in Germany

As 2024 comes to a close, we celebrate a remarkable milestone: ACEEU’s 5th anniversary in Germany. Since then, we have grown from humble beginnings into a global force championing excellence in the Third Mission of higher education. At ACEEU, we believe universities can become catalysts for societal transformation, as universities are often criticized for lacking direct societal impact.  

In 2019, ACEEU spun out from UIIN with the bold mission to bridge the gap between academic knowledge and real-world impact through promoting, celebrating and evaluating excellence in entrepreneurship and engagement. Back then, we were a passionate team of just two, laying the foundation for what would become a globally recognised quality assurance body. That same year, we launched the pioneering Triple E Awards in India, celebrating innovation, entrepreneurship, and engagement in a single region. 

Over the years, we have redefined what it means to achieve excellence in higher education, creating a vibrant, collaborative, and interdisciplinary ecosystem where engaged and entrepreneurial universities take center stage. By 2024, ACEEU has grown into a dynamic, internationally recognised team of 11 members, representing 8 nations, reflecting the diversity and global perspective that shape our vision. As a trusted quality assurance body, we have more than doubled our accreditation activities, highlighting the confidence placed in us to champion excellence and innovation in higher education. 

Beyond accreditation, our impact continues to expand. With a steadfast commitment to advancing the Third Mission, we established the EU Projects Unit, leading transformative initiatives across programs like Erasmus+, Horizon Europe, and Digital Europe. Our over 60 projects reinforce our dedication to driving societal progress through collaboration and innovation.

We also continue to shine a light on excellence through the Triple E Awards and the ACEEU Forum. This vibrant platform has evolved into a global event, fostering dialogue and collaboration while celebrating entrepreneurship and engagement across all continents. Additionally, the ACEEU Spotlight Magazine, with more than 70 articles published, serves as a beacon for innovation, sharing inspiring success stories and showcasing institutions and individuals shaping a sustainable and engaged future for higher education. 

As we reflect on the past five years, and say goodbye to 2024, we extend our heartfelt gratitude for the support and collaboration of our partners and community. Together, we have built a legacy, and the journey has only just begun. Here it is to an even more dynamic and impactful 2025!

The 3DI VR Institute, developed by UCL and Marmara University, offers advanced scientific training via low-cost VR headsets and AI avatars. This virtual lab eliminates the need for physical facilities, slashes travel-based emissions by over 60%, and fosters global collaboration, making cutting-edge education accessible to all. 

Dr. Asel Sartbaeva, a Triple E Awards 2024 finalist, transforms healthcare with her vaccine-stabilizing technology. By eliminating refrigeration needs, her innovation saves lives, reduces costs, and addresses global inequities. Her spinout, EnsiliTech, recently secured £1.7M to advance thermally stable mRNA vaccines.
