ACEEU is thrilled to share exciting news about one of the latest projects, SMARTIE: Synergistic Management and Advancement of Artificial Intelligence in European Higher Education.
Partners met for the first time at the Kick-Off Meeting in November 2023 in Craiova, Romania, marking the start of a mission to integrate AI into European higher education. The project aims to establish a harmonized European approach to AI in education, promote innovative, student-centred teaching practices, and develop accessible educational materials and inclusive teaching methods using generative AI.
The KOM was characterized by enthusiasm and collaboration, setting a positive tone for the entire project. Partners discussed the tasks, timeline, and distribution of responsibilities to ensure a shared understanding of the work plan. Additionally, partners explored effective ways to establish contact between our organizations, higher education institutions, students, academics, and stakeholders, laying the groundwork for meaningful collaboration in project implementation.
A pivotal focus in the meeting was the discussion on the setup of the SMARTIE Alliance for Artificial Intelligence in Higher Education. As the Quality lead, ACEEU presented a Quality Assurance Strategy for the project to ensure relevance, efficiency, effectiveness, and the impact of the project through a structured 4-step process: measuring, monitoring, assessing and evaluating.
The next phase task involves developing an e-questionnaire to assess AI adoption in European higher education, and ACEEU cannot wait to start making a valuable contribution!
