In a workroom at the RTU Scientific Library in Riga, Latvia, progress was made. The Ethical Engineer partners sat together for the second time to reassess the project’s goals, tasks, and deadlines. Within a short time, the consortium was able to make several important decisions regarding management and responsibilities. The team also reviewed quality expectations for the upcoming deliverables.
Well under way are the state-of-the-art review and case studies, which comprise the first two parts of the Ethical Engineer Case Studies and Starter Kit. The third part of the Starter Kit is led by ACEEU. ACEEU has begun the process of identifying digital tools that will support educators in teaching AI ethics to students. Approximately 14 tools will be shared via a user-friendly, multimedia toolbox. Most importantly, the tools themselves are ranked according to an ethics meter to further drive home the idea that the resources educators draw from have ethical implications.
