Project Next Door is all set to begin with community engagement to introduce the project achievements in developing tools and resources to foster neighborhood participation to protect and care for elderly citizens.
In a two-pronged approach which relies on first developing the technical skills and social competences of professionals working with the elderly before proceeding to raise awareness and the involvement of citizens, ACEEU hosted a high-energy capacity building workshop for professionals in Münster who work in community engagement and elderly care.
Through the workshop, ACEEU presented four modules developed together with the Next Door consortium covering the following broad themes: older people in society, the promotion of healthy and active ageing, fostering the use of digital tools and finally, raising awareness and engagement in local communities.
In an intense day filled with learning activities, personal anecdotes and deeply meaningful discussions, ACEEU together with the participants hope that this enthusiasm and motivation carries forward with the next steps of community engagement and that this success of the capacity building workshop serves as a first step catalyst towards making a social change for better care of elderly citizens.
