The BETTER Life project is driving Socially Engaged Research (SER) with the creation of a Digital Centre of Excellence (DCoE), providing inter-institutional support for Early Career Researchers (ECRs) across different regions. The DCoE acts as a collaborative platform, connecting ECRs and Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) with the tools and resources they need to advance SER in the life sciences.
The DCoE is aligned with the Capacity Building and Community of Practice (WP4), and will:
- Visualize the BETTER Life Toolkits: Showcasing the ten toolkits designed to address SER challenges in life sciences.
- Support learning initiatives: Facilitate the Virtual Winter School, on-site Summer School, and bootcamps for ECRs and Engagement Managers.
- Foster regional adaptation: Each of the eight centres—one EU-wide and seven regional—serves as a showcase, tailored to reflect the specific needs of its region, with a focus on regional think tanks and mentorship programs.
- Empowering regions through collaboration
The DCoE enables each partner to customize their respective regional centre's content, making it a dynamic and adaptable resource for SER in life sciences. These regional centres are key drivers of the BETTER Life mission, offering localized support while maintaining strong ties with the broader European initiative.
Through this network of digital and regional centres, BETTER Life sets the foundation for a stronger, more connected community of researchers working to solve societal challenges through Socially Engaged Research.
