From October 16th to 19th, the Digital Accelerator Workshop (DAW) gathered university educators and staff in Alcalá de Henares, Spain, for a transformative training experience hosted by the University of Alcalá (UAH). This workshop aimed to equip participants with the knowledge and tools necessary to implement Digital Community Engagement (CE) within their institutions, aligning with the Third Mission of universities.
Over three days, participants were introduced to innovative resources developed by the DiCE Project, such as the Value Maps for Students and Communities and the Digital Accelerator platform. These tools provide a structured approach to integrating community engagement with digital methodologies, enhancing both student learning and societal impact.
The workshop emphasized value-based management approaches, enabling educators to identify and align core values with the needs of students and communities. Participants also explored practical strategies for creating digital CE courses, including methodologies for course design, content development, and impact assessment. A co-creation session allowed attendees to test the Digital Accelerator, fostering collaboration and creativity.
The event was highly interactive, providing a space for networking and teamwork among educators from diverse institutions. Participants demonstrated a deep understanding of the concepts presented and committed to implementing Digital Community Engagement activities in their courses by April 2025.
