ACEEU continues working to “bridge” the gap in the integration process of international students and intercultural encounters for young people in the region by conducting a series of focus groups and interviews.
The objective was twofold: firstly, to gather key insights on essential elements for composing a service delivery manual tailored to the unique needs of HEIs; and secondly, to gather information on the project can best provide guidelines empowering international students to become mentors in their regions. Engaging a diverse array of stakeholders, ACEEU ensured a holistic perspective in their insights. The participants primarily comprised HEI staff, particularly those who work in the international office, alongside international students and local stakeholders familiar with the experience of working and supporting international students and staff.
The focus groups and interviews provided rich perspectives, illuminating various facets critical for effective service delivery and mentoring programs. Discussions ranged from cultural sensitivities to administrative processes, from academic support to community integration. ACEEU and the rest of Bridges by Mentors partners look forward to composing these two main deliverables.
The work for ACEEU in Bridges by Mentors will continue by engaging with the local stakeholders in the region to seek guidance and obtain deeper insights to better understand their needs and how such a mentoring program could be a solution to decrease polarization between the local and international communities in their region.
Stay tuned for more updates.
