As part of the Kick-off meeting in Riga, Latvia, the project partners from Rīgas Riga Technical University, University of Belgrade, ACEEU, European E-Learning Institute and Momentum Educate + Innovate discussed modalities and structure of Sectoral Skill Councils to be built in Riga and Belgrade and looked into the frameworks for 21st century skills as well as means of what is the best approach to assessing and studying them.
Can skills such as empathy, emotional intelligence, grit and curiosity be taught at universities? We will try to find that out through our ambitious project titled Building an Ecosystem for 21st Century Skills Education in STEM (BE-21-SKILLED). The project aims to identify and instil region specific 21st century skills in HEI STEM teachers so that they are better equipped to transfer these onto their students. A special focus will be placed on potential gender differences in 21st century skill uptake and barriers.
We commend once again our hosts and project lead Riga Technical University for masterful organisation of the meeting and warm welcome! We look forward to seeing how the project unravels!
