The inaugural EU4Green Regional Education Workshop was coordinated by WUS Austria in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, on October 4, 2023.
In response to the workshop organizer's invitation, Professor Đurašević Siniša presented the ongoing outcomes of the MicroGuide project. During a comprehensive session lasting over an hour, he fielded inquiries from both in-person and online attendees, including representatives from the European Training Foundation.
Commencing in January 2022, the EU4Green initiative is designed with the overarching aim of advancing the transition of the Western Balkans towards modern, resource-efficient, and competitive economies. Its specific objective is to bolster the Western Balkans in executing the Green Agenda, thereby fulfilling their commitment to redirecting their economies towards a more sustainable trajectory and achieving climate neutrality by the year 2050.
The workshop's specific objectives encompassed:
Articulating the requirements for the development of green skills, including considerations such as educational levels, thematic areas, regional variations, and specific target groups.
Identifying regulatory necessities, accrediting procedures, and admission criteria for potential micro-credentials, with a focus on producing a Manual for Micro-credentials and providing exemplars of best practices.
Garnering interest and securing commitment for the collaborative development of Micro-credential portfolios within the context of two pilot initiatives, to be implemented in selected economies or specific regions.
Addressing any other pertinent matters instrumental in supporting the implementation of EU4Green and facilitating Green Education activities.
The MicroGuide project endeavors to advance the integration of micro-credentials into higher education, recognizing them as targeted skill and competency acquisitions that enhance traditional qualifications. Emphasizing flexibility, accessibility, and inclusivity, micro-credentials address skills gaps, support lifelong learning, and cater to learners who may have previously been discouraged from formal education. The project aims to establish a common European approach, offering guidelines for the implementation of micro-credentials, analyzing legal frameworks, certification processes, and quality assurance mechanisms, and ultimately presenting practical examples for widespread dissemination and adoption within and beyond the European Union.
