Mentor Your Future (MYFuture) partners had the pleasure of organizing a Training week in Nicosia, Cyprus. The insightful Training Week was hosted by the University of Nicosia (UNIC) from 2 to 6 of May 2022.
The participants of the Training Week were mentors from Bulgaria, Spain, France, the Netherlands and Cyprus selected by MYFuture partners. The training agenda included 4 main themes: mentoring processes and experience (definitions, types & components, mentoring impact, mentoring skills, and best practices on how to build successful mentoring relationships), diversity and multiculturalism in mentoring, sustainability and promoting psychological resilience through mentoring.
The training was set up with a balanced combination of formal and informal activities. Participants took part in some learnings and workshops, role plays, and interactive work groups either indoor or outdoor. The set-up of the Training Week was made in such a way to create an opportunity for intercultural group bonding and sharing of experiences and implementation of materials presented in the workshops. During the Training Week, the participants were encouraged to already implement the workshops to gain a deeper understanding of mentoring-related subjects, foster international group bonding, and share their experiences.
Outdoor activities, such as a campus tour with a guide, free time to explore a nearby museum and Nicosia's historic centre, and a graduation ceremony in the UNIC's amphitheatre were also the highlights of the week. According to the participants, this was a truly enjoyable and fruitful experience, considering that for some participants this was perhaps the first training week to be conducted face-to-face after the global pandemic hit.
